2-(1H-Imidazol-1-yl)ethanol is a chemical compound that has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. It is used as a precursor to the synthesis of 2-aminothiazole and other amines. The reaction mechanism of this compound has been studied using FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. This mechanism involves metathesis reactions, which involve intramolecular hydrogen bonding, energy efficiency, and sample preparation. 2-(1H-Imidazol-1-yl)ethanol can be synthesized by reacting ethylene diamine with hydrochloric acid in the presence of hydrogen gas. Molecular docking analysis has also shown that this chemical can bind to human serum albumin with high affinity.
