- Isoquinoline-6-Carboxylic Acid
- 6-Isoquinolinecarboxylic acid
Isoquinoline-6-carboxylic acid is a compound that elutes in the chloride, ethyl acetate, and trifluoroacetic acid. It can be synthesized by reacting 3-methylisoquinoline with thionyl chloride, phosphorus oxychloride, or aluminum. The synthesis of isoquinoline-6-carboxylic acid begins by refluxing isobutene with sulfuric acid solution and aluminum. The reaction produces isobutyraldehyde and hydrogen chloride gas as byproducts. Isoquinoline-6-carboxylic acid can be purified using a silica gel column chromatography process.
