Indole-4-methanol is an organic compound that can be obtained by the reduction of nitrobenzaldehyde with lithium aluminum hydride. It is used in the preparation of medicinal products, such as allyl alcohol and aryloxy. Indole-4-methanol has been shown to react with Grignard reagents to produce tertiary alcohols and ketones. This reaction can also be used for the preparation of alkaloids.
