2-(Isocyanomethyl)pyridine is an organic compound that is used in the desymmetrization of cyclic ketones to prepare chiral alcohols. It is a nucleophilic and electrophilic reagent that can be used as a building block for the synthesis of organic compounds with new properties. 2-(Isocyanomethyl)pyridine has been shown to react with various functional groups, such as amines, alcohols, carboxylic acids, and sulfonic acids. The resultant products are useful for the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. 2- Isocyanomethyl)pyridine was also shown to have novel reactivity in the formation of multigram quantities of biologically active molecules with high yields.
