Iridogermanal is a bioactive molecule that is an amide of a fatty acid and magnesium. It has been shown to be effective against restenosis in animal models, as well as being able to inhibit the growth of pluripotent stem cells. Iridogermanal has even been tested for use in pharmaceutical preparations for catheter-induced thrombosis. This molecule can also be used as a coating on implants and stents, which may help prevent tissue rejection or reduce the risk of infection.
