4-Iodo-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one is a synthetic compound with the chemical formula C8H10INO. It is a congener of oxymercuration and an oxindole. The synthesis begins with the chlorination of indole to give 4-(chloromethyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2one. This intermediate is then subjected to olefination with phenylboronic acid to provide 4-(phenylmethyl)oxindole. This product undergoes a sequence of reactions to yield 4-(phenylmethyl)-1,3-dihydrooxindole.
