Isobutyl chloroformate is a chemical compound that has intramolecular hydrogen and intermolecular hydrogen bonding. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 182 °C. Isobutyl chloroformate reacts with the carboxylic acid group of caffeic acid to form the corresponding ester, which can be used in the synthesis of caproic acid. Isobutyl chloroformate has been shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) by binding to integrin receptors on their surface.
