4-Iodoisoquinoline is a small molecule that can be synthesized by cross-coupling of an iodobenzene and an aryl halide. The reaction is catalyzed by palladium and can be carried out in the presence of an activating agent, such as an amine or a phosphine. This reaction has been successfully used to synthesize a variety of organic compounds, including methylbenzenes, annular systems, and tetrahydrofurans. 4-Iodoisoquinoline is also able to form n-oxides with nucleophiles.
