1H-Indazole-6-carbaldehyde is a fluorescent molecule that exhibits chemosensors and electrochemiluminescence properties. It has been shown to interact with molecular probes, such as dopamine and metal ions, indicating that it may also have an antiarrhythmic effect. The nature of the fluorescence emission is still not fully understood, but it is postulated to be due to a hydrogen bond between the imine group and the carbonyl group. 1H-Indazole-6-carbaldehyde has been used in luminescent materials for postcards and advertisements, which are popular in Japan.
