2-Iodo-5-nitrotoluene is a chemical compound that can be used in cross-coupling reactions. It is also immobilized and used for microscopy. 2-Iodo-5-nitrotoluene has been shown to react with formamide in the presence of an inorganic base, such as potassium carbonate, to produce aziridines. The reaction with aminocarbonyl groups produces halides and amines. 2-Iodo-5-nitrotoluene can also be used to synthesize chromatographic stationary phases or functional groups for surfactant production.
