Descrição:8-Hydroxy efavirenz is a drug that inhibits the human cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4 enzyme and is a substrate for the human glucuronidation pathway. 8-Hydroxyrate efavirenz has been shown to inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme by binding to the heme moiety of the cytochrome P450. This binding reduces or eliminates its ability to metabolize other drugs, which may lead to drug interactions. The active form of 8-hydroxyefavirenz is primarily eliminated through glucuronidation by UDP-glucuronosyltransferases in the liver.
