Jatrorrhizine chloride is a compound with hypoglycemic effects that has been isolated from the roots of the Chinese herb Jatropha curcas. It has been shown to have an optical sensor effect through its interaction with a specific receptor in the eye. The compound has also been shown to inhibit 3t3-l1 preadipocyte differentiation and promote apoptosis in these cells. Jatrorrhizine chloride can be used as a potential pharmacological agent for the treatment of obesity, diabetes, and cancer.
