Methyl 5-[3-[2-(3,3-dimethyloxiran-2-yl)ethyl]-3-methyloxiran-2-yl]-3-methylpent-2-enoate is a mixture of diastereomers that belongs to the group of natural products. It is soluble in organic solvents and can be synthesized by a liquid chromatography method. Methyl 5-[3-[2-(3,3-dimethyloxiran-2-yl) ethyl]-3 - methyloxiran - 2 - yl] - 3 - methylpentanoate has been shown to have antibacterial activity against animal pathogens and synthetic models. This compound also inhibits methicillin resistance in staphylococcus aureus isolates and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
