• Descrição: Keratin is a protein found in the outer layer of skin, hair, and nails. It is one of the major structural proteins of the human body. Keratin-20% is a water solution that contains 20% keratin extract. The hydroxyl group on one end of the molecule binds to hydrogen ions from water molecules, and this allows keratin to form hydrogen bonds with other keratins in aqueous solutions. Keratin-20% has been shown to have potent inducing activity for nuclear DNA synthesis and cell proliferation in vitro. In vivo studies have shown that Keratin-20% can induce tumor growth at high concentrations, but not at low concentrations. Toxicity studies have also shown that Keratin-20% can cause cellular toxicity through lipid peroxidation and formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
