Descrição:Kaolin is a clay mineral that is used in the treatment of wastewater. It has high resistance to dissolution and adsorption, with an optimum concentration of about 20%. Kaolin is also used for the treatment of some diseases such as cancer. The matrix effect of kaolin can be seen from its ability to absorb water vapor, which prevents the evaporation of surface water and reduces the risk of flooding. Kaolin has been shown to have a protective effect on mitochondria by increasing mitochondrial membrane potential in breast cancer cells. The thermal expansion of kaolin is 1.5 times higher than zirconium oxide at room temperature. This property allows it to be used as a thermal insulator in nuclear power plants or other facilities where high temperatures are present.
