3-Keto cholesterol is a substance that is naturally found in the body. It is an intermediate in the production of bile acids and cholesterol, which are necessary for digestion. 3-Keto cholesterol is also involved in the synthesis of other substances, including vitamin D and steroid hormones. 3-Keto cholesterol has been shown to play a role in the prevention of coronary heart disease, as it has antioxidant properties and can prevent oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL). 3-Keto cholesterol can also inhibit viral life by blocking toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathways.
