Kushenol N is a chemical substance that has been extracted from the Chinese herbal medicine Kushen. It has potent inhibitory activity against pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and TNF-α. Kushenol N is also a potential therapeutic agent for insulin resistance and cancer. In vivo analysis of Kushenol N showed that it can reduce renal glucose reabsorption in rats and inhibit endothelial cell proliferation. It also has genotoxic potential and may be carcinogenic in vivo.
