Laquinimod is a quinoline derivative that is used as a pharmaceutical preparation. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the cb1 receptor, which is responsible for the inflammatory response. Laquinimod also inhibits the phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and prostaglandin E2 production in mice with colitis. The drug has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in several animal models of inflammatory diseases, such as collagen-induced arthritis, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), or chronic granulomatous disease.
