Lupeol is a natural compound that has anti-cancer properties. It inhibits cancer cell growth in vivo by targeting the cell factor, which is necessary for proliferation and survival of cancer cells. Lupeol also inhibits angiogenic process by blocking the binding of vascular endothelial growth factor to its receptor. Lupeol may be able to inhibit tumor growth through other mechanisms as well, such as by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. Lupeol has been shown to have biological activities, including an ability to affect the immune system and suppress inflammation. Lupeol also has inhibitory effects on platelet aggregation, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and cyclooxygenase activity.
