Lexibulin is a drug that is used to treat solid tumours, such as carcinoid syndrome and other types of cancer. It has been shown to suppress the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human cells, including IL-6 and TNF-α. Lexibulin can also be used to treat autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. This drug binds to a receptor on the surface of cancer cells called CXCR4. When lexibulin binds to this receptor, it triggers apoptosis or cell death by activating an intracellular signalling pathway called autophagy. Lexibulin also inhibits the proliferation of HL60 leukemia cells by inhibiting their autophagy response.
