3,4-Lutidine is an organic chemical compound with the formula CH3CH2CH2NH. It is a colorless liquid that has a strong ammoniacal odor and is soluble in water. 3,4-Lutidine can be synthesized by the ammonolysis of acetaldehyde. It is also formed by oxidation of 2-aminobutyric acid with hydrogen peroxide or sodium perborate. 3,4-Lutidine has functional groups such as a polyhedron and a copper complex. Oxidation products of 3,4-lutidine include nitrosobenzene and nitroethane. Nitrogen atoms in 3,4-lutidine are vibrational and polarizable. These nitrogen atoms have an aromatic hydrocarbon group called p2. The growth rate for 3,4-lutidine is slow to moderate at room temperature and pressure due to its low molecular weight and high boiling point. X-ray absorption spectra
