Ligustrazine is an apoptotic drug, which is a substance that induces cell death in a controlled manner. Ligustrazine, which belongs to the group of natural products, has been shown to induce apoptosis in human cells. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and may be used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease. Ligustrazine inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting the activity of phospholipase A2 and cyclooxygenase (COX), which are enzymes that produce prostaglandins from arachidonic acid.
