Fmoc-Thr(tBu)-OH is an amino acid that is used for the synthesis of amides and esters. It is prepared by the solid-phase synthesis of 2,6-dichloroacetic acid and Fmoc-protected thiomorpholine. The product can be purified by a combination of saponification and trifluoroacetic acid hydrolysis. This amino acid has acidic properties, which may be due to its ability to form ester or amide bonds with other compounds in the presence of a base.
