This compound is an active substance that belongs to the class of drugs with blood pressure-lowering properties. It is a functional group with a carboxylic acid and an amide, which are both seen in the molecule. This drug binds to the beta-adrenergic receptor, thereby reducing the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic nerve endings, leading to decreased heart rate and lowered blood pressure.
