Methanol is a chemical compound that is used in analytical methods such as chromatography. It has antioxidative properties and can be used to study the biochemical composition of a biological sample. Methanol can also be used to measure the hydrogen fluoride (HF) content in a solution, which is done by titration with sodium hydroxide. Methanol reacts with carbon disulphide to give trifluoroborane gas, which is used for fluorescence angiography, an imaging technique that allows the visualization of blood flow in a living organism. Methanol has an amide group and many fatty acids, including oleic acid, linoleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid and arachidonic acid.
