The active ingredient of Speciosa is the (5E)-2-mercapto-5-(4-nitrobenzylidene)-1,3-thiazol-4(5H)-one, which has been shown to have anti-aging effects. This compound is found in kidney beans and has been recrystallized and activated before use. It also contains speciosa, a mixture of alkaloids that includes indoles, such as tryptamine and 5-methoxyindole. The alcohol extract of Speciosa contains impurities and organic solvents. The complex enzyme system in this plant extract breaks down carbohydrates into sugars that are then absorbed by the body. The residue left over after extraction is rich in hyperglycemia.
