1-Methylpyrrolidin-3-amine (1MP) is a vector for gene transfer that can be used to target and deliver DNA or RNA into cells. It has been shown to cause the production of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in human hepatocytes in vitro. This gene is an important component of the LDL receptor, which is required for the removal of LDL from blood plasma. 1MP also has been shown to increase the efficiency of cationic liposomes by disassembling them and releasing their contents.
