Methyl 1-methyl-5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylate is a peptide that is used in the study of bromodomains. It has been shown to bind to the active site of bromodomain 1 and inhibit acetamide, which is an inhibitor of the bromodomain 1. Methyl 1-methyl-5-oxopyrrolidine-3-carboxylate also has structural analogues, such as methyl 5-(2,4,6-trimethoxybenzoyl)pyrrolidinium carboxylate and methyl 2-(2,4,6-trimethoxybenzoyl)pyrrolidinium carboxylate. These compounds have been shown to inhibit the activity of a variety of bromodomains.
