5-Methylimidazolidine-2,4-dione is an organic compound that has a tautomeric form. The optimal reaction for this molecule is with the nitrogen atoms on the imidazolidine ring and the hydrogen atoms on the methylimidazolidine ring. 5-Methylimidazolidine-2,4-dione can be used in a number of applications, including being used as a proton donor in acidic solutions. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on fatty acid oxidation and to produce acidic products when heated or reacted with water or alcohols. 5-Methylimidazolidine-2,4-dione can also undergo chemical ionization.
