Methyl 4-bromo-2-methylbenzoate is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of drugs. It can be used as an adjunctive treatment for cardiac ischemia, with the aim to increase myocardium perfusion. It has been shown to reduce infarction size and improve cardiac function after reperfusion in vivo. Methyl 4-bromo-2-methylbenzoate binds to palladium metal and reacts with ethyl groups, forming methyl esters. The palladium-catalyzed cross coupling reaction proceeds through a sequence of steps, including oxidative addition, transmetallation, and reductive elimination.
