- 4-Methylindolin-2-One
4-Methylindolin-2-one is a potent antagonist of the dopamine receptor D2. It has been shown to be an effective drug for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, cocaine addiction and hypertension. 4-Methylindolin-2-one blocks dopamine receptors in the brain by competing with natural neurotransmitters for binding sites on the surface of neurons. This leads to reduced dopaminergic activity, which alleviates symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, and other motor disturbances associated with Parkinson's disease. The compound also inhibits angiotensin II receptors and has been shown to elicit agonist activities at dopamine receptors.
