The stereoselective synthesis of (S)-4-methylbenzenesulfinamide has been achieved through the use of hydrophobic phenylphosphinate as a chiral ligand and an azetidine as a starting material. The reaction time was found to be 20 minutes at room temperature with ethyl phenylphosphinate.
