- 2-Methylpyrrolidine HCl
2-Methylpyrrolidine hydrochloride is a chiral chemical that is used in organic synthesis. It is an intermediate in the production of nicotiana and nicotine. 2-Methylpyrrolidine hydrochloride is synthesized from acetoacetate and borohydride, which are obtained from leaves of plants. The product yield can be increased by using solvents such as acetone or methyl groups. This compound can also be prepared by demethylation of pyrrolidine ring with methyllithium followed by reaction with methyl iodide. 2-Methylpyrrolidine hydrochloride is a chiral molecule that has two different forms, one left-handed and one right-handed.
2-Methylpyrrolidine hydrochloride has been found to be an effective insecticide against aphids, red spider mites, thrips, cotton pests, and so on.
