- Benzenebutanamine, 4-Methoxy-
4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)butanamine is a quinoline derivative that can be synthesized by reacting 4-methoxybenzaldehyde with butyraldehyde. It has been shown to be a good catalyst for the formation of bromoquinoline derivatives and other heterocyclic compounds. The product yields are high and the chloride is easily removed from the reaction mixture. This compound also reacts with cyano groups to form tetrahydroquinoline derivatives and heteroannulation reactions can be carried out with substituents on the aromatic ring.
