Methyl 6-chloro-2-pyrazinecarboxylate is an organic compound with the formula CHClNO. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and alcohols. Methyl 6-chloro-2-pyrazinecarboxylate hydrolyzes to form orotic acid, which is a precursor to pyrimidine nucleotides. It has been used as an anticoccidial agent for poultry. Methyl 6-chloro-2-pyrazinecarboxylate can also be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds, such as m-chloroperbenzoic acid and amides.
