3-Methoxy-N-methylaniline is an organic solvent that belongs to the group of cyclic amines. It is a white solid with a melting point of -18 °C and a boiling point of 240 °C. 3-Methoxy-N-methylaniline has been used as a reagent for nitro compounds and nitrites, as well as in the synthesis of phenoxy compounds. This compound reacts with hydrochloric acid to form chloride, which is then reacted with nitrite to produce nitro compounds. 3-Methoxy-N-methylaniline can also be used to replace methylene blue in nucleophile reactions, such as the synthesis of methoxylamines, which are intermediates in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals.
