2-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-3-carboxylicacid is a carboxylic acid that can be synthesized from 2-(2-methoxyphenyl) tetrahydrofuran and succinic anhydride. The product yield is high, and it has been used as an industrial nematicide. In addition, this compound can be used as a synthetic intermediate for the production of guanidine and zinc chloride. 2-(2-Methoxyphenyl)-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-3-carboxylicacid is also known to have antiinflammatory properties.
