• Descrição: Milbemectin A4 is a drug that belongs to the class of anthelmintic drugs. It is a mixture of moxidectin, which is a macrocyclic lactone, and milbemycin oxime. Milbemectin A4 has been shown to be effective against wild-type strains of C. glabrata in experimental models. This drug has also been shown to cause liver lesions in rats and humans, although the exact mechanism of action remains unknown. This drug may inhibit the uptake of milbemycin by P-glycoprotein (Pgp) in the human blood stream and increase its concentration in the blood plasma. The analytical method for quantifying milbemycin oxime in plasma samples involves extracting the sample with chloroform/methanol followed by liquid chromatography with UV detection at 254 nm.
