• Descrição: 6b-Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid that has been used in the treatment of bowel diseases and inflammatory disorders. It is active orally and can be given as a single dose. Methylprednisolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors which are found on various cells, including those in the immune system. It inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines by inhibiting phospholipase A2, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids. 6b-Methylprednisolone also prevents the expression of inflammatory genes by inhibiting transcription factors such as NF-κB, AP1, and AP2. 6b-Methylprednisolone has been shown to have immunosuppressive activity with reduced incidence of rejection after kidney transplantation or erythropoietin therapy for patients with chronic kidney disease. 6b-Methylprednisolone has also been shown
