Trans-4-Methoxy-beta-nitrostyrene is an amine that can be synthesized from folic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of rat thoracic tumors by alkylation and nitrosation, which may lead to the inhibition of DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. Trans-4-Methoxy-beta-nitrostyrene has also been shown to be a 5HT1A receptor antagonist, which may account for its effects on the nervous system and other biological processes.
