3-(Methylsulfonyl)propanenitrile is a chemical compound that inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species and subsequent inflammation that is associated with cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and other inflammatory conditions. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the activity of human macrophages and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. 3-MSPN has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human thp-1 cells, which are an immortalized line of human hematopoietic cells. This drug also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by blocking the function of proteins involved in cell division.
