Descrição

Menaquinone 8 is a bacterial vitamin that is needed for the reduction of oxygen to water. It is a cofactor for the enzyme menaquinol:NAD+ oxidoreductase, which catalyzes the oxidation of menaquinol by NADH. Menaquinone 8 is found in bacteria and human liver, where it helps regenerate vitamin K2 (menadione) from vitamin K3 (menadiol). The ability of menaquinone 8 to reduce oxygen to water makes it an important factor in biological treatment methods such as wastewater treatment and radiation. Menaquinone 8 has been shown to be essential for health in children, as it helps maintain phospholipid membrane integrity in red blood cells.
