• Descrição: Metaproterenol hemisulfate salt is a low-potency beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist that is used to treat chronic cough and other conditions. It has been shown to increase the rate of locomotor activity and heart rate, as well as having cardiac effects such as lowering blood pressure. Metaproterenol hemisulfate salt has been used in the treatment of syncytial virus infection in infants. The drug inhibits viral replication by stimulating the production of interferon and has been shown to inhibit the growth factor-β1 (GF-β1) induced by viral infection. The effects on viral replication are measured using a chemiluminescence method. Metaproterenol hemisulfate salt also shows anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit TNF-α production through toll-like receptor 4 signaling pathways.
