Descrição:4-Methoxy estrone is a metabolite of estradiol that has been shown to induce cellular transformation in vitro and tumorigenesis in vivo. It can be found in the urine of women with breast cancer and is also produced during pregnancy. 4-Methoxy estrone has been shown to have a high affinity for catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) enzyme, which may contribute to its carcinogenic effects. Studies have also shown that 4-methoxy estrone can be metabolized by hydroxylation at the 4 position to form catechol estrogen metabolites, which are associated with preeclampsia. This compound has been identified as an endocrine disruptor that alters metabolic profiles when administered to animals.
