N-(Methoxycarbonyl) maleimide is a synthetic compound that has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cells. It interacts with the functional group of the proteins, where it forms a cavity by linking two molecules together. This cavity is then filled with a chemical reagent to give an N-substituted maleimide, which can be used for conjugation reactions. The linker can be modified to contain functional groups such as thiols and amines, which are useful for attaching biomolecules such as monoclonal antibodies.
