Descrição:N-Methylpiperazine is a piperazine derivative that contains a hydroxy group in the para position. It is used as a reagent in organic synthesis, and can be synthesized from ethylenediamine and formaldehyde or pyrocatechol. N-Methylpiperazine has been shown to inhibit the growth of squamous carcinoma by blocking the production of DNA and RNA. The chemical substance also inhibits the synthesis of protein, which is needed for cell division. N-Methylpiperazine also reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form stable complexes.
