3-Methylisoxazole-5-carboxylic acid (3MICA) is a cyclic amp phosphodiesterase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of this enzyme in vitro and in vivo. 3MICA has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the production of hormones, such as adipose, which may be due to its ability to reduce the release of fatty acids from fat cells. 3MICA also has vasodilatory effects that may be due to its ability to increase blood flow by relaxing vascular smooth muscle. The mechanism for this effect is not known, but it may be related to the inhibition of cyclic amp phosphodiesterase or other enzymes involved in lipid metabolism. 3MICA has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities and inhibitory effects on carbohydrate metabolism at high concentrations.
