6-Methylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a human metabolite that can be found in the serum matrix. It is part of a ternary complex formation with picolinic acid and fatty acid, which may result in an intramolecular hydrogen transfer from the methyl group to the oxygen atom of the carboxylic acid group. 6-Methylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to react with hydroxyl groups to form n-oxides and redox potentials. These reactions are catalyzed by detergents.
