Morin hydrate is a flavonoid compound that has been shown to have antioxidative properties. It has been used in the modeling of the DNA damage-repair process and in the study of the mechanisms of synchronous fluorescence. Morin hydrate has also been shown to be effective against kidney fibrosis, and it may be an antimicrobial agent that can inhibit bacterial growth. Morin hydrate is not soluble in water, but is soluble in alcohols, which makes it a good candidate for development as a drug. Morin hydrate may also protect cells against oxidative stress by reducing reactive oxygen species production and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.
