- Benzenecarbothioamide, 2-methoxy-
- 2-Methoxythiobenzamide
2-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide is a sulfur-containing organic compound that belongs to the group of compounds known as dianions. It is an oxidant that yields aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acids in the presence of hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite. 2-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide has been used to synthesize benzothiazoles and benzoxazoles by alkylation and allylation reactions. This compound reacts with silyl halides to form allylsulfonyl chlorides. 2-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide also reacts with allyl bromide in the presence of copper(II) chloride to form allyl ethers.
2-Methoxybenzenecarbothioamide is used in organic chemistry for the synthesis of dianions through reactions with alcohols, elemental sulfur, elemental sulfur dioxide, thiol
